Two weeks back there was a small party in the city from the Indian community. Quite an important community here, they are heavy into diamonds and that is big bussiness here in Antwerp.
On this party Hare Krishna was also present, many here see them still as a cult community, with not such a good reputation. They are already longtime here in Belgium. I know they do good deeds and live on their own, so no problem for me. Well I believe they have grown to a more respectable community and have their faith.
For sure they were welcome by the Indian people and they know better than we , what Hare Krishna stands for.
I remember distinctly there was a time where you could not walk at airports or public places without one of the members coming up to you asking for “donations”. At the time people were less acceptant of them and more afraid. Now I think most people have no issues and not many badger people. I’ve seen quite a few members in Chicago but none around my area.
I didn’t realize that Indians in Belgium were also big into diamonds, I alway thought the Jewish community had the “exclusive”.
The Jewish community is still the biggest in diamonds here. Coloured stones is almost completly Indian
I agree with Camellia at one time they were everywhere in this country, Airports were the main place they hung out, however not so much anymore. I have only seen one, yes one sole one in this area at the market. I dont see them as a cult, they are just differnt!! however I are the Moonies as a cult. good captures captures
Yeah you not see them much anymore
Great shots, Peter!
Thanks, loved taking them
