We have two summer chamber music festivals here in Ottawa, one following hard on the heels of the other. I was reminded by a friend as we watched a hoop dance at Ottawa Chamberfest that I had not posted shots I got at the previous festival, Music and Beyond. There an evening was put together to showcase folk from various cultures of the indigenous communities. Activities ranged from a smokedance through throat singing to Métis step dancing to a hoop dance. Enjoy..
Smokedance performed by Sarawe Longboat
Throat singer plays a traditional game with her son
Hoop dance with Mariah Miigwans
Métis jigging or step dancing with the Lyons Sisters
The Travelling Song – traditional farewell song which includes participation from the audience
So glad your friend reminded you to post these. Love the colors and the details you were able to capture. But most of all I love #1 photo, his costume really stands out in the light.
