It was interesting walking over the Alexandra Bridge and along the path by the Ottawa River the other day as in our city we are very aware that climate change has not allowed the Rideau Canal to open as a skating rink. This is the first time since the canal opened as a rink in 1971. Looking at the Ottawa River ir is evident that the same forces are in effect. The river has not completely frozen this year nor does it look as though it will.
Where the river has frozen the ice has cracked and heaved in abstract patterns/
