Washington’s Skagit Valley is a major stop for the Snow Geese from Russia’s Wrangel Island as they migrate to California’s Central Valley, and currently about 60% of the birds choose to remain here for the Winter rather than continuing on to California. At other times I have seen fields that are totally white due the large number gathered in one place, and the noise is deafening. Two hours after capturing this image the field was empty as they all moved on to greener pastures.

Interesting shot, usually our spring shots are of up to 100,000 of them in the air. Must be spring…
Every once in a while we get these guys to visit our area and a whole bunch of us photographer run to take a photo or two before they are gone. But we have never had as many as you have been able to photograph. Lucky you and lucky us that you shared 😊
